Wassup #OTDHipHop! Mahalos for tuning in for another #TrackTuesday segment!
Today we're featuring a new song by two Big Island emcees/rappers - Jay Kuro and Kody D. Produced by The Beat Plug, "I Be On Some" is a straight up vibez type of track. It honestly never ceases to amaze me at how much talent we have around Hawaii especially on the outer islands. Often times, Oahu/Honolulu is where most of the attention for art and entertainment go. But the local kids on the outer islands like Maui, Kauai, and Big Island are participating in Hip Hop/Rap music and culture as well. "This track is about just being you, running your own sauce and not worrying about one damn thing anyone has to say or the thoughts they have," said Jay Kuro. Hip Hop itself as a musical genre and a worldwide cultural phenomena, is based on telling it like it is and being true to oneself. Hawaii is on a brink of a whole new wave of artists that are talented and willing to represent the islands like no other has done before, and Jay Kuro and Kody D and other local artist like them are part of that wave. In fact, waves come in sets right?
Jay Kuro and Kody D are two rappers, along with other artists from the Big Island, who will be going on the Creative Hustle Tour, an intra-island tour slated to take place in January 2017. Led by Brayden Cruz-Silva (aka KillaBrex), the Creative Hustle Tour is presented by the Faithful To Hawaii (FTH), a Hawaii based creative community surrounded by hip hop music and culture. Jay Kuro is part of FTH and Kody D is part of another rap group called The Visually Gifted. The Creative Hustle Tour has booked shows on the Big Island, Maui, and Oahu, with more info to come. Stay tuned for tour updates and info from FTH via Facebook and Twitter. For more from Kody D and the Visually Gifted, follow them on Soundcloud.
