Aloha and welcome back OTDHipHop fam! We have been very busy going through content from our Davao City, Philippines tour, back in February. Make sure to check out our spotlight interviews from tour, on our Youtube channel and/or Facebook. We also promote artists heavily on our Instagram and Twitter pages.
With that said, we are back with our Track Tuesday segment - song reviews submitted by independent artists from around the world. This week we had the pleasure of reconnecting with female hip hop artist, X-Plycit. We’ve featured her on OTDHipHop a few times before, and she is back with another single...and an album on the way. She has a bunch of shows and festivals booked for the rest of Summer and Fall, and is currently working on her newest album. Today we reviewed X-Plycit’s new track “Outro,” from her upcoming album Content.
First off, I dig the production and engineering on “Outro.” Shouts out to Harbour Drive Studios! The beat has a military cadence tempo, and is on point to X-Plycit’s aggressive, bar-for-bar style. It’s only one verse, and quite short; but X-Plycit delivers with her own unique tone and energy. She takes jabs at “bubble gum rappers” and goes in on any one who doubts her. I’m excited to hear what the rest of Content sounds like. X-Plycit’s new album is scheduled to release later this summer, and she is also working on a collaboration EP with another female Toronto-based artist.
