I named this blog “On-The-Daily” because it symbolizes the daily “grind” that we go through week by week whatever your work may be. But as I started interviewing more and more independent Hip Hop artists from different platforms, I realized that I really do meet talented, hardworking, creative minds on the daily. Hip Hop artists in particular are probably the most diverse when it comes to all around artistry. Most of my friends that do music are not only writers and performers, but they are often their own producers, managers, graphic designers, etc. IntraVenus is no different, and it is my pleasure to have him part of my Friday Feature line up.
The name IntraVenus means two things- “intra” means between and “venus” means love. “Essentially I created my name to represent my love for both Rock and Hip Hop genres” said the artist. Take a listen to “Within The Melody,” off his latest mixtape Growing Pains, and you might be able to judge what school of Hip Hop this man is from. The beat, which the artist produced as well, pays homage to his old school Hip Hop as a 80s baby. IntraVenus credits groups like Atmosphere, A Tribe Called Quest, Tech N9ne, and Kottonmouth Kings as heavy music influences. Regardless, he brings a hint of “conscious” fresh lyricism coupled with storylines that often involves aliens and extraterrestrial experiences; if you don’t get the music’s message, you’re at least taken on a ride through IntraVenus’ side of the galaxy.
IntraVenus is a rapper, producer, manager, and owner of his own label Proof of Life (P.O.L), of which also houses its own radio broadcast called P.O.L. Radio. He has spent most of his life between Florida and Colorado and currently resides the latter. “I always had an interest in different music. My parents were hippy-types so they often played 80s and 90s Rock and R&B music around the house. I started writing poetry and eventually found how well my writing matched rap beats. I entered my first cypher at age 16 and pretty much never stopped ever since” said IntraVenus.
IntraVenus remains pretty busy “on the daily” from creating his own music and running the P.O.L music label and radio show. He stated that a major advantage from running his own label is creative control from all aspects, especially in distribution. His Growing Pains mixtape was created, marketed, and distributed through a number of platforms all through the P.O.L. label. Be sure to check IntraVenus, his projects on the P.O.L official website as well on social media below!
